Today’s FReedy FRiday offering is Disappointed Man, which serves up one of our hero’s more sinister lyrics. I’m particularly fond of the following couplet: “Did you fill this hired room with guilty words?/Your white piano hands flutter like poison birds.” I don’t know exactly what that means, even within the context of the song. So I’ll just go hyper-literal on your ass and make a post-nap list of recent indulgences that have/haven’t left your friend Larry a disappointed man.

DISAPPOINTED MAN: Working On A Dream (even worse than it sounded in its buried-beneath-grunts NBC debut on Sunday), The Office (you’re a comedy - stop attempting to make me care about your characters, because they are useful to me only in so far as they make me giggle), Danny Goldberg’s Bumping Into Geniuses (too sincere and self-conscious for a tell-all memoir).

NOT DISAPPOINTED MAN: A Colbert Christmas (you’ll love the show even if you don’t dig Colbert’s shtick, because the songs are a riot), 24: Redemption (kinda slow until Jack starts blowing shit up at about the 35-minute mark, but great fun thereafter), the new Yankee Stadium (we’ll cover that one separately, but my initial response upon taking a mini-tour this a.m. was: Holy Temple Of Awesome).
