I have a whimsy-related headache so profound as to frustrate my ability to arrange nouns and verbs in coherent working order. In fact, it took the brain crane six minutes just now to extract “whimsy” and “frustrate” from the obstructed avenues of my mind, and three more for “extract.”
So for today’s FReedy FRiday fix, I’m turning to the man’s most mellow-gold groove, Changed Your Mind. With the electric piano and light percussion, it would’ve been right at home on AM radio in the 1970s… not that I remember much about AM radio in the 1970s beyond its worship of The Spinners’ Working My Way Back to You and Nicolette Larson’s Lotta Love. New York’s WABC-AM 770 used to be mom’s favorite apparatus to drown out the back-seat skirmishes between me and my sister; now it’s a destination for people inclined to shout about socialism and bank bailouts. Fun.
I’m not well. Buy Changed Your Mind here.
