new rule
I am officially outlawing use of the phrase “it is what it is” in conversations in which I’m involved, except for those rare situations where something truly and completely is what it is alleged to be. For instance, if a person is holding an egg and somebody asks him, “Say, is that an egg?,” that person is permitted to respond, “Yes. It is what it is.”
